Analysis of the Internship Project This evidence-based project focused on the creation of a rubric for simulation experiences in the baccalaureate program at WKU. First, to become familiar with the different uses of simulation and its evaluation within the nursing realm, completion of a comprehensive review of the literature occurred. Hence, the search included the use of Google Scholar, PubMed, and EBSCOhost databases to aid with the search of pertinent literature. Identifying keywords selected for the search were nursing simulation, nursing simulation evaluation, and nursing simulation rubrics. Published articles chosen for review fell between 2010 and 2015. Secondly, a review of the curriculum learning objectives as outlined in the syllabus for the Senior Practicum course established specific course needs for the rubric. Specifically, this outlined list of objectives requires the student to recall knowledge, comprehension, and understanding of human homeostasis and disease pr ocesses within the nursing construct. During the simulation, the student applies the recalled material to care for the patient from the most basic level to the highest level of need. Next, following the review of curriculum objectives, the writer conducted an analysis of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) standards.
